The Indian Institue of Architects

IIA is the national body of architects in the country with a strong 20000 plus fraternity of members, spread across the nation through 24 chapters, 57 centers, and 15 sub centers.

IIA plays a major role in promoting architecture by organizing various events, workshops, exhibitions, seminars, and promotional events throughout the country. It also works with the Government to promote fair practice values and to provide a better environment for the construction industry as a whole.

IIA is actively associated with the International Union of Architects (UIA), Commonwealth Association of Architects (CAA) and South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation of Architects (SAARC). It started its journey from the year 1917 in the form of ‘ The Architectural Students Association’ at Sir J.J.College of Architecture. Since then, by getting transformed into various forms and other names it finally got registered under Societies Registration Act as of today’s I.I.A.

I.I.A. celebrated its 100th year of formation in the year 2017.

The I.I.A. Satara Center which established in the year 1996 and has grown gradually and has gained prominence in I.I.A’s history. Many of its members have won National and International level awards in Architectural and Interior design competitions.

The Satara Center arranges various programs throughout the year for the betterment of the profession and strives for the professional excellence of its members. Right from the organization of the Western Maharashtra Conference at Mahabaleshwar, it has successfully organized many such events including the I.I.A centenary year MAHACON in 2017 at Satara. The center has also conducted a national level competition for Satara Nagar Parishad's  new administrative building in the year 2018-19, which had received tremendous response from the Indian Architerial fraternity. The center has also contributed towards social causes like charity to the Cattle Sheds, in the drought areas of the Satara region, Earthquake rehabilitation and the 2019 flood relief works in the Sangli, Kolhapur region, and Kerela state.

IIA Satara center donated ₹ 3,75,000/-, for Jumbo Covid center at Satara city and ₹ 51,000/-  for Chief Ministers Covid Relief Fund. 

The center today has about 60 members who are always eager to come together and work towards the true spirit of the architectural community.
